Moving to a new house is often a dreadful process; all the packing, organizing, cleaning and unpacking and making sure that you are fully settled as soon as possible, especially when you have kids and their routines to consider.
With the right planning and by following the checklist below, moving in Dubai can be stress-free!
CHANGE THE LOCKS
First things first, and for you and your family’s safety and peace of mind, make sure that you immediately change the locks on all the exterior doors. You never know how many keys past tenants have shared.
CALL THE PEST CONTROL SERVICES
Have the pest control check for bugs, plug any rodent holes and spray.
CONNECT YOUR DEWA IN YOUR NEW HOME:
To open a DEWA account, you will need to submit an application form to DEWA which you can find on their online portal or by going directly to the office.
APPLY FOR EJARI:
To get Ejari you will need to either visit a typing center or submit an online form. It’s mandated by law, so don’t delay it indefinitely. What you will need: Passport copy, Emirates ID copy, tenancy contract, DEWA contract and connection receipt, and the Title Deed.
The apartment has most likely been cleaned after the old tenants moved out, but clean it yourself once more just in case. Deep cleaning could include windows, floors, carpeting, blinds, walls, floors and cabinets and could also extend to appliances and furniture if you are moving into a furnished home.
DESIGN YOUR SPACE
Measure your space and have a plan. It will be easier to tell the movers where to place the heavy furniture
